Re: Greatest upset in sports history?
Second division West Ham lifting the cup in 1980 would have got you pretty long odds, not quite in Leicester's league but up there.

Re: Greatest upset in sports history?
Oh wait I see what you mean. Mind-boggling odds, but only a complete fool would have placed such a bet!

Who lets you have a bet of 5 pence?

If I went to the trouble of doing the bet I think I'd be more pissed off winning £250 at 5000/1 knowing I should have just put a quid on it.

It's the biggest shock in world sporting history - let alone British.

Re: Greatest upset in sports history?
Of course, Leicester City's title win will be the biggest shock ever in British sporting history.

No ifs and buts about it.

I had them down as certs for relegation.

RH, it was mathematically impossible, so there were no odds.

I love it that a woman in Edinburgh had 5 pence on Leicester City to win the league.

Was either a Leicester exile living in the city, or a completely random bet?

Ignore all that. I'm with Alex V here, some fella winning a poker tournament trumps all of the below.

If you want to put how big an upset Leicester winning the league is, have a look at oddschecker and the various long shot bets on offer.

James Ward is 3000-1 to win Wimbledon
Piers morgan is 2500-1 to be the next arsenal manager
Norwich are 1500-1 to win the league next season

assuming that palace were 50/1 at the outset, itd be 250,000/1.

Re: Greatest upset in sports history?
Yeah but thats where we are now. winning the league is one thing, then you can add any other event to it to get a greater odd, for example Leicester winning the league and the next day Hitler rising from the grave and proclaiming that he's the second coming.

Re: Greatest upset in sports history?
